At some point or another you may have experienced this type of individual who always seems to be in a negative state of mind 90% of the time. You love this person but every time you speak its never anything positive. It was the typical guy-meets-girl story you read about all over the Internet. We met for dinner and drinks and there was an immediate attraction. We laughed and talked and overall had a great night. By the second date, he stayed the night at my house and didn’t leave for four days.

Every once in a while, when an emotion and/or visual stands up and moves to the front of the line, it becomes both therapeutic and necessary to put pen to paper (or in this case hand to keyboard) and allow that single feeling to share its story.

I adore my drives. There’s just something about the vibration whenever rubber meets pavement that sends a thrill throughout my entire body and provides me with an unparalleled sense of calm. Perhaps it’s because both the feeling and sound are synonymous with how I’ve always perceived silence or perhaps it’s simply due to a feeling of living without restraint.

As much as I tried to apply personal development ideas in my life, I failed big time.

All the affirmations in the world couldn’t make me love myself.

The more I tried to “be present,” the more all-over-the-place my mind became, getting lost in overthinking.

Mindfulness didn’t work for me either. Observing my thoughts got me to chase each and every thought and analyze it.
