There’s More to Life Than Being Busy: Why I Took a Pressure-Free Pause

“When we get too caught up in the busyness of the world, we lose connection with one another—and ourselves.” ~Jack Kornfield

It was a Monday a few weeks ago, 6:00am, and I was taking a morning walk. The only light in sight was the neon yellow glare of the street lamps.

My heart was heavy. It was as if someone had cut my chest open while I was asleep and slipped a cannonball inside.

My alarm had awoken me at 5:00am, as it had every morning since the start of the year.

Why It’s Okay to Be Self-Centered Sometimes

09.04.2018 in Life Path, Personal Development, Self Love

“We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men.”  ~Herman Melville

I grew up with a faith that encouraged personal sacrifice for others. Putting myself before others or desiring what they lacked was sinful. So there I was, during my teenage years, trying to be a saint, completely unselfish when thinking or interacting with others.

I must admit that I was always in the equation.

If I gave advice to others, I did it for them but also for the good feeling of improving their lives.

8 Quick and Easy Meditation Techniques to Calm Your Anxious Mind

04.04.2018 in Empowerment, Life Path, Life Skills, Psychics, Spirituality, Stress Management

By

Have you ever found it hard to motivate yourself to do something that was good for you, only to eventually do it, feel amazing, and wonder why you waited so long?

That’s what meditating was like for me. Even though I knew I could do it for only five minutes each day to feel calmer, less stressed, and more present, I found excuses not to do it regularly for years.

I’d tell myself five minutes wasn’t enough; I really needed thirty or more, and I didn’t have that time,

Why We Can’t Have Healthy, Happy Relationships Without Self-Love

“Worry about loving yourself instead of loving the idea of other people loving you.” ~Unknown

Body image and self-love have been my biggest struggles. They’ve affected every area of my life, including relationships.

I developed anorexia in high school after experiencing a number of losses in a short period of time.

During my high school years I didn’t date much. I had a few boyfriends, but the relationships never progressed because I was afraid of intimacy, due to the fact that I was uncomfortable in my skin and didn’t like my body.

You Are Not Responsible for Anyone Else’s Emotions

04.04.2018 in Empowerment, Gratitude, Healing, Life Path, Life Skills, Personal Development, Positive Thinking, Spirituality, Stress Management

“Rather than being your thoughts and emotions, be the awareness behind them.” ~Eckhart Tolle

“I don’t believe you,” I jutted out my chin like a petulant toddler. Collapsing back into the tufted leather loveseat, I conceded, “I want to believe you, but I can’t.”

My therapist had just explained to me that I am not responsible for regulating other people’s emotions. My mind couldn’t process this truth.

There were too many decades of owning the moods of those around me.

In my younger years, if a parent was stressed,

3 Steps To Remove The Clutter From Your Life

04.04.2018 in Addiction, Empowerment, Gratitude, Life Path, Life Skills, Personal Development, Positive Thinking, Spirituality, Stress Management

By Advisor Jessica

Hello my name is Jessica. I have taken a clutter coaching course that helps you with your relationships, work environment, and so much more. I can help you understand what needs to be removed – almost like Feng Shui. Feng Shui is a Chinese form of balancing out energies which could be in a room, where you move things in angles and positions to regain balance. And also be more grounded. Also removing clutter helps the chakras and meditation.

When you de clutter a room or even space you make sure everything is put in the right place and everything should be spaced out.

Think You’re Not Good Enough? How to Stop Holding Yourself Back

28.03.2018 in Empowerment, Life Path, Personal Development, Positive Thinking

“Stop holding yourself back. If you aren’t happy, make a change.” ~Unknown

Growing up in a culture where physical beauty determines how successful you are in finding a job, a suitable husband, and a promising career, and most importantly, bringing honor to your family reputation, I was a disappointment to my family, especially to my mother.

She was the definition of a perfect beauty—5’6″, slim, big eyes, high-bridged nose, perfect skin, and gifted with charisma. I was the opposite.

As I got older, my mother’s negative words got louder and louder. They were a constant reminder that I wasn’t good enough;

8 Solutions for Loneliness That Don’t Require a Romantic Relationship

“People are lonely because they build walls instead of bridges.” ~Joseph F. Newton

The epiphany has finally occurred. Why on earth has it taken so long? I ask myself this as I look back on the last nine years, which I have spent trying to cover up my real issue. Loneliness.

After getting married at twenty and then leaving nineteen years later, it took another two years before I met another man that I fell in love with almost instantly. He told me from the very beginning it would never be a relationship,

What Annoys Us About Others Can Teach Us About Ourselves

28.02.2018 in Empowerment, Health, Life Path, Life Skills, Personal Development

By José de la Torre

“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.” ~Carl Jung

When my wife and I had children, little did we know that we’d be creating little bundles of nerves. Between my wife’s depression and my own anxiety, we created two anxiety-ridden, depressed balls of mess, and then some.

Don’t get me wrong, we love our two girls to death, and we are very proud of them. They are both very strong and beautiful young ladies. Occasionally we like hanging out with them too.

While the two girls have similar interests,
