Moving Past Pain and Struggle

Moving Past Pain and Struggle

emotionalpainIt goes without saying that emotional pain, the type that eats away at your very core and leaves you feeling lifeless and despondent, far surpasses any level of physical pain. It’s not easy to keep moving forward when your heart has been diced to bits time and time again. It’s not easy to keep thinking positively when you have given your all to something only to be left out in the cold. It’s challenging to keep a genuine smile on your face when it feels as if your hopes for that perfect relationship are really nothing more than a pipe dream.

We’ve all been knocked down and it hurts just as much each time. After a while, it’s hard to stand back up again. It’s hard to look at the world through unbiased eyes and believe there is something real and truly loving out there for you. It becomes easy to think those good connections and relationships are simply meant for someone other than you. You may even try to convince yourself that you don’t deserve it.  We can trick ourselves into this line of thinking all we want, but the craving for something with substance and something that leaves us feeling loved will always be there, so it is in your own best interest to start looking at these situations in a different way.

While nobody should have to experience this type of pain over and over,  emotional hardship does teach. It teaches us  what to avoid in the future. How many times have you ended up in the exact same difficult relationship situation as before? Did you keep trying and stick with it even though it felt like a repeat of the situations that tore you apart in the past? If so, know it happens to the best of us. We all hope the new connection will be better and eventually work out. We don’t look at how it is affecting our own personal happiness and our relationships with our closest connections. Instead, we will cling like glue and give it 110% rather than realizing what we are truly worth. Nobody deserves to be shut out time and time again. Nobody deserves to feel as if they don’t matter. Everyone, including you, actually does deserve a real relationship filled with happiness and joy.

These situations repeat because we allow them to repeat. Next time you start seeing repetitive patterns in a newer connection, remind yourself what you are worth. Tell yourself you don’t deserve to be treated poorly and that you simply will not tolerate it any longer. It’s not easy to cut the cord, but if you don’t, you could be setting yourself up for a repeat. Remind yourself how those situations felt and then walk away if needed. You owe it to yourself to maintain your standards. Don’t get caught up in making excuses for someone else’s behavior. They are in charge of their own actions and so are you.

Having the strength to move yourself forward is easier said than done, but it will become quite easy as soon as you empower yourself fully. Once you are more empowered and more nurturing toward yourself, you will start to attract the types of people you truly want in your life. We get what we push and if you are in love with your own life, you will bring the right people directly to your front door.

Spend some time over the next week re evaluating your past relationships. Take the lessons to heart, create some new standards for yourself,  and then let those old relationships go.  It’s time for you to refresh your energy and let go of any residual pain that may still be present. Once you do, you will start to see the beauty in everything around you again and will also have the strength and ability to walk into a new future filled with endless possibilities. You deserve a future filled with love created by you, for you.
